After obtaining an honours degree in corporate finance and investment from WITS University and qualifying as a Certified Financial Planner, Elian worked as an asset consultant, financial journalist at Moneyweb and 702/Cape Talk and was head of communications at one of South Africa’s largest financial services companies – all before the age of 30.
In 2009 he founded Epic Communications (now MSL), a PR and strategic communications agency that went on to become one of the largest companies of its kind in Africa. In 2012, he was named Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year and Innovator of the Year at the prestigious Sanlam/Business Partners Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. In 2015, Epic Communications was named African Agency of the Year at the Global Sabre Awards. In 2015, he sold the agency to one of the world’s largest advertising networks and left the business a few years later.
Despite his career and financial success, Elian was burned out, had few interests outside of work and his sleep, health and relationships were suffering.
After a year of soul searching and self-work, he began to understand that making more and more money cannot be the ultimate goal in and of itself.
Rather, he came to the realisation that true wealth consists of many dimensions including financial, physical, spiritual, career, relationship and community.
Wealthwoke was created to better understand this new concept of wealth.
Through Wealthwoke, Elian has become adept at communicating and facilitating discussions on some crucial issues:
- How do we identify our life goals and then invest, protect and manage our money in order to achieve them?
- How do we make use of our financial wealth to find purpose in our lives and hopefully make a positive impact on this world?
- What can we do with our money to enhance our other wealth dimensions, such as relationships, health and spirituality?
